ESPERANZA BARBOZA TARANGO, 61, resident of Lordsburg passed away Thursday August 1, 2024 in Albuquerque.
A rosary will be Saturday morning, August 17, 2024 at 10 o’clock at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church led by Carlos Bejarano. Memorial Mass will follow at 10:30 with Fr. Jude Okonkwo officiating. Inurnment will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery.
Espi, as many knew her was born November 30, 1962 in Deming to Roberto and Maria de Jesus (Tavizon) Barboza. Espi was a hard worker and over the years had worked as a dispatcher for the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department, worked construction with the City of Lordsburg and also had worked with the Lordsburg Housing Authority. At one time she also served as Municipal Judge. She is admired for instilling a strong work ethic in her children and always enjoyed being with her grandchildren who she loved very much.
Espi is survived by her husband, Santiago Tarango of Lordsburg; sons, Kenny Abeyta (Nicole) of Las Vegas, NM and Santiago “James” Tarango III (Christina) of Albuquerque; brother Louie Barboza (Terri) of Safford, AZ; sisters Patricia Barboza of Lordsburg, Maria Guadalupe Barboza of Lordsburg, Mona Taylor (Don) of Pima, AZ, and Bobbie Jean Ramirez of Artesia; and 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roberto and Maria de Jesus Barboza; son Oscar M. “Ozzy” Tarango and sister Amy Titus.
Honorary bearers are Kenneth L. Abeyta, Darius Abeyta, Santiago Abeyta, Zackary J. Tarango, Skyler Garcia and Tyler Garcia.
