He took up cowboying on most of the local ranches. The most memorable ranches he worked as a cowboy was for Doc Campbell and The XSX Ranches in the Gila, Hot Springs. He would sit down and talk about all his experiences working most of his time alone out in the wilderness, before the Gila was designated as the Gila Wilderness. From there he went to work for Kennecott Chino Mines in Santa Rita and most of the local underground mines. Then he decided to leave New Mexico and try other adventures in California and went to work for his son Felipe Jr. in the year of 1985. Felipe was also known as an excellent “Jack of all Trades” he had the ability to work and fix anything. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and just sitting down and talking about all his stories growing up. Felipe had a good memory about remembering dates and names of all local old times and friends that he knew growing up or he worked with. Felipe worked at Spencers Rentals- Equipment Maintenance Person, Dozers, forklifts, loaders trenchers, air compressors, roader tillers and also wrought iron making gates, doors, windows, ornamental crafts, etc. In 1988 while crossing Bay Bridge in California on an 18 Wheeler and at the very top of the bridge he prayed that there would not be an earth quake.
