Franklin J. Meyers Sr

Franklin J. Meyers Sr, a United States Air Force veteran of Animas, passed away at home Friday, January 23, 2026. He was 78 years old.

Franklin was born August 18, 1947 in Springfield Illinois to Robert Meyers and May Ruth Otken Meyers Waters.

He served his country proudly as an active-duty Air Force Officer and, following an honorable discharge, enlisted in the Air Force Reserve, totaling 34 years of service.

Franklin married Anna May Reed on October 12, 1985. They spent 40 years together, raising a blended family of six children, twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anna May Meyers; son, Franklin James Meyers Jr; stepson, Michael Turner, both of Peru, IN; daughter, Sarah Jane Stage of Elwood, IN and stepdaughter, Tanya Noi Clark of Avon, IN; his brother, David Allen Waters of Prescott, AZ and sisters, Carol Shurig of Plainfield, IN and Lois Willis of Animas, NM.

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents and stepson, James Turner.

Visitation will be held at one o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Baca's Funeral Chapel in Silver City. Full military honors will be accorded at one-thirty. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Franklin’s family suggests that donations be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital, an organization which he supported for many years.
