Gene Alcorta

Gene Alcorta, 68 of Santa Clara passed away June 17, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

At Gene’s request, cremation will take place.  A graveside funeral service will take place at 4PM on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the Santa Clara Cemetery where he will be laid to rest in the family plot.

Gene was born March 18, 1952 in Santa Rita, NM to Jose and Tomasa Alcorta.  A lifelong area resident, he had worked as an operator at Kennecott Copper Mines.  Gene enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping with all his family.  One of his favorite pastimes was watching his beloved Washington Redskins play.  As long as Gene could spend time with his family, that was all that mattered.  He enjoyed spend as much time as he could with family.  He will definitely be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Gene is survived by his sons, Gene (Ashley) Alcorta, Jacob (Selena) Alcorta and Andy (Tracy) Gomez IV; daughters, Berna Palmer (Randy), Francine Alcorta; brothers, Joe Alcorta and Henry Alcorta; sisters, Magie Hernandez, Angie Portillo, Teresa Hernandez, and Eva Alcorta; Mother in Law, Lucy Ortiz,; brother in law, Ramon Ortiz, Jr; grandchildren, Daniel Chavez (Krystal), Nicole Lopez (Jesse), Brenda Ramirez (Frankie), Erik Alcorta (Jasmine), Marck Steyskal (Jessica), Brittany Alcorta (Kenny), Jacob Alcorta, Gabriel Alcorta, Andy Gomez V, Hondo Gomez, and Tony Gomez; great grandchildren, Bobo, Bosia, Betty and Dano Lopez, Amari and Ynez Ramirez, Alicia Delgado, Miguel Medina, and Carla Garcia.  Gene was preceded in death by  bis wife Betty Alcorta; his parents Jose and Tomasa; brothers, Tony Alcorta and Ernest Alcorta; sisters, Della Chavez and Aurora Cuevas; father in law, Ramon Ortiz and brother in law, Arnold Ortiz.
