Geneva "Chuca" N (Newell) Uresti

Geneva Newell Uresti, 74 and longtime resident of Lordsburg, NM, left for eternal rest on December 14, 2020 at Mtn. View Regional Medical Center, in Las Cruces, NM, after she valiantly fought a 4-year health battle.

Geneva, lovingly known as “Chuca” amongst family, was born in Lordsburg on August 14, 1946. She was raised by her beloved Grandmother Leonor and Grandfather Henry Newell, along with her uncles, aunt and brothers.

Geneva, a true believer in family, was a loving mother to Elizabeth, Joe, Lisa, Silvia and Alma. She also has many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins that are going to miss her dearly. 

Geneva, was a good friend to many and was always willing to help when she could. She loved to cook for her family and for all of her friends at the Lordsburg Senior Center, where she worked many years.  She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren and family. She loved to crochet, sew, doing arts & crafts, making popcorn balls to hand out for Halloween and to watch her KC Chiefs play.

She will be truly missed and remembered by many, as having a friendly and always helpful personality.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time. Services will be held at a later date. Cremation was entrusted Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.
