Genovevo Carrillo August 13, 1966 – September 23, 2024
Genovevo (Bo) Carrillo (58) passed away at his home on September 23, 2024.
Genovevo, Bo or Bebo as he was known to all his friends and family, was born on August 13, 1966 in Deming, NM to Benigno R. Carrillo and Anita Banales Carrillo.
Genovevo graduated from Deming High School in 1984 where he was very active in baseball. He was also very active in softball and played with various men and co-ed softball teams. He later would play on various softball teams where he lived at the time and would also go on to coach his son’s little and senior league baseball teams. Genovevo also coached and supported other sports and activities and his kids were very active in basketball, soccer, volleyball, band and theatre. Genovevo was always on the sidelines for all the kid’s activities and his support carried on as they became adults and also when he became a grandparent. Genovevo’s greatest joys were his children and grandchildren whom he adored and lived for. There was nothing that he would not do for them. After graduating from Deming High, he enlisted and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. After being discharged from the Air Force he attended the New Mexico Department of Corrections Academy and upon graduation from the Academy Genovevo was assigned to work at the Main Prison in Santa Fe, NM he then transferred to the Juvenile Division of the New Mexico Corrections Department (which later changed to be under Children Youth and Families Department) and worked at various locations throughout the state to include, Albuquerque, Alamogordo, Carlsbad, Las Cruces, and Eagle Nest, where he retired after more than 30 years of service.
After retiring from the State of New Mexico he went to work for Deming Public Schools as a Instructional Assistant at the Early College High School where was admired and loved by the students and staff. His love and heart for helping youth carried on through the school as he assisted and cared for the entire student body and faculty. Genovevo particularly worked with a student by the name of Braylin Chaffin. Genovevo never gave up on any youth he encountered over the years and always saw the beauty in all. He encouraged everyone to always have fun with their life and never worry.
Genovevo was a diehard Pittsburg Steelers fan and anybody that knew him knew it as he would always be wearing something with the Steelers logo and colors. Genovevo tried to never miss a Steelers game and loved watching football and riding his Harley. Genovevo loved music, dancing and trivia games.
