Gloria Gonzales Chavez

Gloria Gonzales Chavez “Foya,” 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona.

Visitation will begin Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 5 to 6 o’clock in the evening at Baca’s Funeral Chapel. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be recited at 6. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, September 20, 2024 at 11 o’clock in the morning at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with the rite of committal and interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Fr. Francis Gyau will officiate.

She was born on November 13, 1950 in Deming, New Mexico to the parents Guadalupe Gonzales and Maria Villa. Gloria, also known as Foya by many was a long-time resident of Deming, New Mexico. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She enjoyed family gatherings, watching her favorite TV shows and spending time with all her friends. She enjoyed listening to a variety of music that always put a smile on her face. She was loved by many for the warm hearted, caring, and loving nature that made her special leaving an everlasting glow to everyone in her life. She will be greatly missed by everyone closest to her heart. 

Gloria “Foya” is survived by her children, Jonathan Gonzales, Anna (Fernando) Castro and Kathy Chavez; her siblings, Ignacio Gonzales, Cenon Jaime, Theresa Quesada, Sonia Gonzales, and Cecila Gonzales; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren as well as many numerous friends and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe, and Maria Gonzales; her spouse, Robert Chavez; 2 children, Robert Chavez, and Jospeh Gonzales, as well as 3 of her siblings.

Servings as pallbearers will be Noah Saenz, Carlos Wiggins, Ignacio Gonzales Jr., Joshua Lira, David Chavez, and Lonnie Quesada.
