In Loving Memory of Harvielee Ann (Offutt) Moore

Harvielee Ann (Offutt) Moore, born June 8, 1945, in Deming, New Mexico, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the legacy of a life beautifully lived. She was the cherished daughter of Ira Joe and Louella Offutt.

Harvie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her two sons, Brent and Shad Moore, and her dear sisters, Jeanie Coppedge, Lana Hassman, and Joella Treadwell. Though her loss is deeply felt, her memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.

She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Samuel Tolbert “Buzzy” Moore of Deming, with whom she shared a remarkable love story. Their journey began in 1969 at the Deming Public Library, where a few tutoring sessions turned into a lifelong partnership after Buzzy asked Harvie to a Friday night football game. They were married in July of 1976 and built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures.

Harvie leaves behind a legacy through her family: granddaughter, Megan Guaderrama (Erik); grandson, Zachary Moore (Carmenlita), and her treasured great-grandchildren, Evan, Maddox, Blake, Bryce, Angelica, Isaac, and Xavier. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Smrkovsky; daughter-in-law, Jackie Wilson (Ivan), Vanessa Snyder, and numerous nieces and nephews including Kay Hassman, Char Bickerdike, Crystal Coppedge (Bill), Rusty Smrkovsky, Ryan Smrkovsky (Angela), Jeanie Lynn Lawson (Jason), and Jessica Ballard along with many great-nieces and nephews.

From an early age, Harvie found joy in life’s simple pleasures—riding horses, reading books, and spending time with her four sisters. She was a gifted student and graduated as Valedictorian from Deming High School in 1963. She went on to earn her degree in education from McMurry University, beginning a lifelong passion for teaching.

Harvie dedicated 46 years to Deming Public Schools as both a teacher and administrator. She was more than an educator—she was a mentor, a role model, and a guiding light to countless students and colleagues. Her kindness, patience, and unwavering belief in others left an enduring impact on everyone she encountered.

She and Buzzy built a life rich with shared experiences—raising their sons Brent and Shad, traveling, dancing, camping, bowling, and simply enjoying each other’s company. In her later years, Harvie found her greatest joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always ready for a new adventure and never missing an opportunity to create lasting memories.

Harvie was a woman of warmth, strength, and grace. She had a rare gift for making others feel seen, valued, and loved. Her positive spirit and genuine care for people touched countless lives and will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A viewing will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 1 to 2 o’clock in the afternoon at the First United Methodist Church. The Funeral Service will begin at 2 o’clock followed by the final interment at Mountain View Cemetery. Pastor Koreen Guillermo will be officiating.
