Helen Chavez, 81 of Silver City passed away September 4, 2020 in Elephant Butte, New Mexico

 Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels.  Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel.  Officiating will be Deacon Bill Holguin.

Helen was born July 21, 1939 in Santa Rita, NM to Cruz Ponce and Rita Delgado.  She worked in the food service industry as a cook at several different locations around the Silver City area.  Aside from that, she was a homemaker and made the best tortillas and she was also a devout member of the Catholic Church.         

Helen is survived by her children Ricky Fierro (Marina), Charlie Fierro (Wendy), Cynthia Henry and Thomas Chavez; a brother, Angel Delgado; a sister, Theresa Fernandez; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Hilario Chavez; daughter, Lori Fierro; brothers, Jeff Delgado, Adolfo Delgado, Ruben Delgado and Alberto Delgado; parents, Cruz Ponce and Rita Delgado.
