Henry Kirker Obituary

Henry L. Kirker, 87, of Silver City passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Three Crosses Hospital in Las Cruces.

Born on May 4, 1936, in Santa Clara to Juan and Rita Kirker, Henry’s journey began in Grant County before leading him to California, where he worked as an industrial mechanic with Kraft Foods and weekended as a real estate agent. Ultimately, he settled in Silver City to enjoy retirement.

Henry's passions were as diverse as they were profound. He found joy in spending time with his family, camping, hunting, and nurturing his garden. A gifted singer, his voice filled the house and our memories with his sweet music. Summers were marked by his unwavering devotion to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he was a legend at the pool table. Henry approached each moment with grace, skill, and a quiet playfulness.

However, it was Henry's love that defined him most. From his enduring romance with his wife of 70 years, which began in grade school and blossomed into a union of unparalleled devotion, to his boundless affection for his expanding family, love was the currency of his life. Despite facing adversity, including health challenges and the loss of loved ones, Henry's heart remained steadfast, brimming with love that he generously bestowed upon all who crossed his path.

Henry carried his family in his heart, raising multiple generations with love and compassion, cultivating a home where all could gather, no occasion needed. He filled the world with music and connection. Everyone belonged in Henry’s loving embrace.

Henry delighted in revealing the intricate webs of connection that bound his family together. "That's your cousin," he would frequently remark while running errands, weaving tales of familial bonds that transcended generations. Henry held the entire Kirker family tree in his head and his heart, nurturing not just one tree but an entire orchard, like a devoted farmer tending to the land.

Henry Kirker leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and comfort those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by his gentle spirit. He spent his final days recounting all the people he loved, proving that love is the only currency you can take with you.

He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all whose lives he graced with his presence.

Henry is survived by his wife, Stella Kirker; son, Ronald Kirker; daughter, Eileen Kirker Munoz; two brothers, Mario Kirker and Robert Kirker; nine grandchildren, Amie Chacon, Genera Kirker Manning, Edrina Kirker, Rhiannon Vaughn, Rick Hoyer, Rhonda Kirker-Gonzalez, William Henry Houch, Miranda Bree Munoz, and Evan Richard Munoz; 25 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Clorinda Lynn Kirker; son, Mario Edward Kirker; granddaughter, Edrina Kirker; siblings, Frank, Leonardo and Clorinda
