Hilario G. Chavez, “Larry”, 84, of Silver City, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 5, 2020. Larry was born January 14, 1936 in Gila NM to Jose Chavez and Carmen Guerra.
Larry worked and retired from the Town of Silver City as a pump operator. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Larry enjoyed helping everyone and him being a jack of all trades, he would give the shirt off his back and help them with whatever they needed. Larry was very faithful devout catholic who prayed the rosary daily. Larry will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was survived by his wife, Helen Chavez; his children, Lawrence M. Chavez (Patsy), Ronnie Chavez (Katie), Amy Becerra, Cindy Henry, Thomas Chavez; step-children, Ricky Fierro (Marina), Charlie Fierro (Wendy); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Carmen Chavez; brother, Freddie Chavez; daughters, Judy Kirker and Lori Fierro; as well as a granddaughter, Angel Rose Becerra.
Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 9 am on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Baca’s Funeral Chapels. The Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10 am on Saturday at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church with Father Oliver Obele, officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Stephanie Contreras, Lawrence C. Chavez, Tina Chavez, Ronald H. Chavez, Andrew Chavez, Bertha Rose Becerra, Jonathan Chavez, C. J. Henry and Zach Henry.
