Ida Stewart Obituary

Ida Jo (Haas) Paulk Stewart went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2024. She was born on September 15, 1928 to Eva (Russell) Hass and William Haas. Jody attended Deming Public Schools. She married Clifford Paulk Jr. in 1946. Their union produced William, Clifford III, Richard and Ronald (who was born with cerebral palsy).

Her husband Clifford passed in 1955 and she was left to raise four boys on her own. When she was 38 she enrolled at Western New Mexico University to attain her teaching degree. She then taught second grade at Columbus Elementary school until her retirement in 1990. She received a Golden Apple award while teaching at Columbus. After retirement she married Clyde Stewart in 1990.

She is survived by her sons William and Richard (Katherine), daughter-in-law Terri, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Clifford Jr., Clyde and sons Clifford III and Ronald and Jo Ann (William).

The family would like to thank the staff at the Aristocrat Assisted Living facility in Alamogordo for the loving care of our mother. Mom was loving and kind and will be dearly missed.

Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Deming on Monday January 15, 2024 at 10 o’clock in the morning.  Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.  Pastor Koreen Guillermo will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Jed Paulk, Gene Paulk, Jake Paulk, Ryan Paulk, Joey Paulk and Jay Paulk.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
