It is deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister Iragene “Jeanie” Coppedge. Jeanie was born November 21, 1946 in Deming, NM and entered eternal rest on November 8, 2023 in Las Cruces, NM with her husband Bill by her side.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Baca’s Funeral Chapel. Pastor Koreen Guillermo will be officiating. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.
She was the beloved daughter of Ira Joe and Louella Offutt. Everyone who ever met Jeanie knew how kind and caring of a person she was. Jeanie married Bill Coppedge on July 23, 1977 at The First United Methodist Church in Deming, NM. She attended Deming Public Schools where she graduated in 1965. Upon graduation she attended McMurry University in Abilene, TX. After returning to Deming, she went to work for Deming Public Schools as the Director of Finance and retired in 1995. Then she became the manager of the Deming School Employees Credit Union where she worked for 18 years. Jeanie and Bill were blessed with their 2 children and their one and only grandchild Basil Adcock who arrived in 2017. Retirement was difficult for them until their days were filled with the excitement and joy of their grandson. She loved the holidays because it brought together her family and many friends. She lived a wonderful life and will be missed by many.
Jeanie is survived by her husband Bill Coppedge; 2 children Charlene Bickerdike of Deming and Crystal (Bill Adcock) Coppedge of Lubbock, TX, and their child Basil Adcock. 2 sisters; Harvielee Moore and Linda Smrkovsky. Jeanie and Bill have always had a special place in their lives for their nieces and nephews Ryan Smrkovsky, Rusty Smrkovsky, Jesscia Treadwell Ballard, Jeanie Lynn Treadwell Lawson, Shad Moore, Brent Moore and especially Kay Hassman who was thought of as a third daughter. Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Louella Offutt and her 2 sisters Joella Treadwell and Lana Kay Hassman.
