JACINTA A. MARQUEZ, 64, lifelong Lordsburg resident passed away Thursday September 23, 2021 in the comfort of her home.
Visitation will be Saturday morning October 2, 2021 at 9 o’clock at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where a rosary will begin at 10 o’clock. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 o’clock with Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor officiating. She will be laid to rest at Shakespeare Cemetery next to her husband Joaquin T. Marquez.
Jacinta was born October 17, 1956 in Lordsburg to Manuel C. and Anita (Carrillo) Alvarado. She graduated from Lordsburg High School in 1975 and married her high school sweetheart Joaquin Marquez in August of that year. Jacinta was a desk clerk at the American Motor Inn for many years and in her spare time she loved to crochet. She loved being with her family and especially being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Ruben Marquez of Lordsburg, Jacob Marquez (Magdalena) of Greeley, CO, Anna Marquez of Lordsburg and special friend and caregiver, Judith Cervantes of Lordsburg; brothers Freddy Alvarado (Roxanna) of McAllen, TX, Manuel “Mico” Alvarado (Carol) of Las Cruces; sisters Alice Gomez of Las Cruces and Eloisa Chavez of Belen. She has 4 grandchildren who she cherished.
She was preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Anita, her husband Joaquin and an infant brother.
Pallbearers will be Billy Garcia, Pat Garcia, Vincent Barrio, Oscar Barrio, Adam Alvarado, Jason Alvarado, Duane Brojer, and Ron Gandara. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and Godchildren.
