Jack Joe Abeyta

With deep love and heavy hearts, we celebrate the life and memory of Jack Joe Abeyta, 66, of Silver City who was born June 28, 1959 and passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025. He was a beloved partner, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and friend. He will be remembered for his strength, kindness, storytelling, and quiet faith. He was a faithful Dallas Cowboys and Diamondbacks fan, win or lose.

Jack is survived by his companion, Loretta Martinez; sister (Gloria) Bejarano (Joe) and brother, Sammy Martinez of Duncan, AZ; his son, Josh of California; grandchildren, Anani, Jose Antonio, Josiah “Papas”, Mia, Erikah “Mamas”, D’Angelo, Deegan, Armani, Trinity and Rico Gandara; great granddaughter, Leilah May who brought a bright light into his last few weeks; and his extended family whom he raised as his own sons, Juan, Gabriel, Will, and Eric; and brothers-in-law, Richard (Sheila) and Ramon (Barbara) Martinez whom he loved as brothers. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Mike Rodriguez (Carol) who made countless kind visits during his illness along with his nephews, Joe Bejarano Jr. (Regina), Rico Gandara and his uncle, Pete Abeyta.

Jack worked in many different jobs in the construction and mining industries. He also worked for the Town of Silver City for many years and that became his last place of employment.

Visitation will begin at nine o’clock in the morning on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Silver City. The Holy Rosary will be recited at nine-thirty. The Funeral Mass will be held for Jack and his stepson, Juan “Bozo” Martinez at ten o’clock. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery. Father Mathieu of Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery is officiating. Family and friends will gather in fellowship following the services at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Silver City.
