He is survived by his wife Mary; three children, Teresa, Douglas and Donald; and his brother, Leonard; additionally, a large group of nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Our Father was born in 1930 in Minnesota to Lillian and Aaron (Slim) Harris and spent his youth traveling with his family around the country. At 18, he enlisted In the United States Navy and then served honorably for 25 years. He began his career as a Seaman recruit and ended his career as an Officer, achieving the rank of Lieutenant.
In 1952, he married his wife Mary Wallace and raised three children. In 1973, he retired from the Navy and moved to Silver City NM. During his time in Silver City he operated a business with his Dad, worked for a local plumbing heating and air conditioning company, eventually finishing his working years as Head of Maintenance for the Silver Consolidated School District.
Upon retirement he and his wife proceeded to travel internationally and to also become avid Motor Home travelers. They made many friends along the way and became very close to Sandra Ortiz who we consider part of the family.
Our Father will be sorely missed.
