Jesus C. Maldonado, 81 of Silver City passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 10 am on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Baca’s Funeral Chapels with Deacon Bill Holguin, reciting. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11 am on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father Oliver Obele.
“Chuy”, as he was affectionately known, was born June 15, 1939 in Silver City to Leopoldo and Manuela Maldonado. He had worked and retired from the Tyrone Mine after 32 years as a pipefitter. Chuy had also worked as a plumber for many years. He enjoyed sports, especially Boxing and Baseball. So much so that he was a boxing coach and baseball umpire. He enjoyed being outdoors, spending time fishing, camping and the infamous “Corona Fridays” spent with his boys. Chuy will definitely be missed all who knew and loved him.
Chuy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen; four sons, Richard (Yvonne), David (Darlene), Tommy (Ramona), and Jesus (Carissa); one daughter, Lorraine (Melvin) Castillo; one brother, Cesario (Mary) Maldonado; one sister, Mary Ann Montoya; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leopoldo and Manuela; three grandchildren, Richard D Maldonado Jr, Joseph Castillo, and Thomas Maldonado, Jr.; two brothers, Manuel and Epimenio; four sisters, Helen Moreno, Esther Olivas, Lucinda Kirker, and Ofelia Arellano.
