Jesus "Chuy" F. Rodriguez

 Jesus F. Rodriguez, known to everyone as “Chuy” or “Popo” passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Fort Bayard Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Chuy was born on February 27, 1930 to Luz and Pablo Rodriguez in Santa Rita, NM.  Chuy was loved by everybody and was known best for his love of sports and for his big red Ford truck. He was known to be a great baseball player who played for the Santa Rita Rattlers and later was recruited to the Santa Rita Miners. Many of his teammates and friends would call him “Judy Jours” as a nickname. His love for sports was then carried on with his children and grandchildren. He loved being a proud daddy/Popo by supporting and attending all of their sporting events and competitions every chance he could. His kids and grandkids were his pride and joy. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family.  His other love in life was his “Wiffy” Carmen. They were inseparable and did everything together. If you were from Central or Silver you have probably seen their big red Ford truck cruising around, since they loved their joy rides together. He loved his Viejita more than anything.

 Chuy is survived by his loving Viejita of 61 years, Carmen Rodriguez from Santa Clara, NM; Daughter Margaret “Margie” R. Chip and husband John Chip from Las Cruces, NM; Granddaughters Jessica “J-Lo” Tarin and husband Curtis Tarin from Las Cruces, NM; Katrina “Kit Kat Kot” Chip and Fiancé Matthew Ogaz from Castle Rock, CO; Great-Grandchildren Dante “Partner” Chip and Bella “Little Lulu” Tarin from Las Cruces, NM. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Chuy was preceded in death by his loving children Paul and Virginia “Ginny” Rodriguez. His parents Luz and Pablo Rodriguez; His sisters Manuela Fernandez, Carolina Grijalva, and Genoveva Rodriguez; and Brothers Manuel and Andres Rodriguez.

The Prayer Vigil and Rosary will be on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 9:00am at Santa Clara Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00am with Father Casmir Anozie, officiating. Concluding services and burial will take place at the Hanover Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be John Chip, Dante Chip, Curtis Tarin, Matthew Ogaz, Larry Rios Sr., and Louie Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers are Jessica Tarin, Katrina Chip, and Bella Tarin.
