Johnny "El Cuidadito" Garcia

Juan Arrey Garcia, 68, former resident of Deming passed on to be with the Lord in a loving home surrounded by his ex-wives, Elizabeth, Lupe and all of his Children, Monday, September 13, 2021 in Las Cruces.

Visitation will be at 9 o’clock in the morning Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Deming. Graveside services will follow at 10 at Mountain View Cemetery with Pastor David Vistine officiating. Military Honors will be accorded.

Johnny “El Cuidadito” Garcia, A.K.A. Juan was born March 3, 1953 in Deming, New Mexico to Jose and Josefina A. Garcia. His love of music at an early age led him to have a lifelong career as a musician. He was the founder and creator of several successful bands from Deming and surrounding areas, the most notable are: The Velvatones, Majestic Knights, Friday’s Child and Sonido Chicano. Johnny’s passion for music continued with a career as a Disc Jockey on KOTS, KOBE, Radio Kama, KBNA in which he began the Oldies show, B94 and ended his career with Primo Tejano. His love of music was surpassed by the love for his family. He always gave all praise and credit to the Lord for the gifts he had for music and radio. Johnny will be dearly missed by all who loved him. He is very much loved by his family. He was never alone during his last moments.

Survivors include his children, Johnny Garcia Jr., Bobo Garcia, Gabriel (Betsy) Garcia, Jeremy (Erika) Garcia, Tammy Juarez, Jovannah (Julian) Quintero and Jasmine Garcia all of Las Cruces, Valeria Garcia of Dallas, TX, Christina Garcia of San Diego, CA and Andreana Torres of El Paso, TX; 3 siblings, Frank (Christy) Garcia and Lupe (Max) Sanchez both of Las Cruces and Bertha Garcia of Alamogordo, NM; as well as 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Johnny is proceeded in death by his parents, Jose and Josephina Garcia and 3 siblings.

Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony and Deriek Juarez, Dominik Gutierrez, Benny Garcia, Julian Quintero and his son, Jeremy Garcia.
