Jose Trejo Nieto, 73, longtime Deming resident went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, July 5, 2021, passing away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Visitation will begin Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel from 4 to 6 in the afternoon. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be recited at 6 led by Nena Juarez. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, July 12, 2021 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with the rite of committal and interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Fr. Jesus Martinez will officiate.
Jose was born September 23, 1947 in Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico to Carlos and Eduviges Nieto. He was the oldest of 3 brothers and 1 sister. He was raised in La Colonia Guadalupe Victoria and that is where he met the Love of his life, Maria. Jose and Maria were married in Ascension, Mexico in 1967. They moved to the United States after their marriage and raised their three children in Deming. Jose worked many years at Southwestern Irrigation (SWIG) and then moved on to Bowen Construction. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family camping, fishing, and hunting. Jose took much joy in music and dancing. He loved to go to church and worship the Lord and also liked to go visit and talk to everyone. He was very old fashioned and told it like it was, he was the type of man who was very stern but loved you with all of his heart.
He is survived by his children, Luzelva (John) Easterday Nieto of Libson, ND, Anna (Alfonso) Delgado and Jesus (Jenifer Smyer) Nieto both of Deming; a brother, Jesus Manuel (Eva) Nieto of Chihuahua, MX; 10 grandchildren, Jesus Delgado Jr., Daniel Delgado, Carlos Delgado, Cynthia Delgado, Amanda Madrid, Deanna Madrid, Kassandra Nieto, Bryssa Nieto, Osvaldo Lopez and Esteban Lopez; 6 great-grandchildren, Akira Dilullo, Azion Dilullo, Miguel Madrid, Layla Delgado, Xaylen Delgado and Kameryn Delgado. He was also very close to and had a special bond with his God Daughter, Mayra Tarango and considered her as a daughter.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Eduviges Nieto; his wife, Maria; 2 brothers, Miguel Angel and Ramiro Nieto; as well as a sister, Maria de Socorro Nieto.
Serving as pallbearers will be Esteban Lopez, Jose Torres, John Easterday, Carlo, Daniel and Jesus Delgado Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Socorro Tarango, Ernesto Talavera and Alfredo Castillo.
