Josie (Serna) Camacho

Josie S. Camacho, 74, of Silver City, New Mexico, passed away at her residence surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, January 01, 2022.

A Visitation for Josie will take place from two o’clock until four-thirty in the afternoon on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Silver City, New Mexico. A Prayer Vigil will begin at four-thirty. Officiating are Mr. Victor Bojorquez and Mr. Aaron Nantes. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Infant Jesus Shrine in Hurley, New Mexico. Concluding Services and Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery in Silver City, New Mexico. Officiating is Father Casmir Anozie.

Serving as Pallbearers are Louis Bojorquez, Victor Bojorquez, Joseph Bojorquez, Matthew Bojorquez, Isaac Acevedo, Adelaido Acevedo, and Aaron Nantes.

Josie was born on November 11, 1947 in Silver City, New Mexico to Samuel and Paula F. Serna.

The memory of her free-spirited, loving personality will forever be held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Paula Serna; her brother Raymond Serna; her sister, Stella Crispin; her grandsons, John and Mark Anthony Reed.

Josie is survived by her loving companion of many years, Tiburcio “Peewee” Barreras; her four daughters, Lorraine Bojorquez, Yvonne Nantes (Norman) of California, Aileen Camacho of New Mexico, and Francis Brooks (Nick) of Nevada; the father of her children, Victor Camacho of California; three sisters, Lorenza “Yolanda” Barrera of New Mexico, Gloria Cueva of California, and Mary Macias of California; sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
