Josie Abeyta Chacon Ramirez of Silver City, New Mexico passed away at St. Joseph Hospital on August 6th, 2025 in Tucson Az, where she was surrounded by friends and family.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 8:30 am an Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Baca’s Funeral Chapels.  The Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:00 am at St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church with Father Oliver Obele officiating.  The Rite of Committal and burial will be at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Cemetery.  Having the honor of being casket bearers will be Alyssa Chacon, Marissa Angel, Theresa Chacon, Lauren Molinas, Lawrence Chacon Jr., and Erik Martinez Jr.  Honorary bearers will be Aliyah Martinez, Kyla Chacon, Renesmaee Martinez, Candida Chacon, Miranda Chacon, and Araliz Chacon.    

Josie was born in Silver City on December 19, 1941, to Ralph and Candida Abeyta. She retired from St. Mary’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona.

Josie had three children, Barbara Martinez (Eddie), Arthur Stephen Chacon Jr. and Rudy Chacon (Valerie); she is also survived by a younger brother, Pete Abeyta;12 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren, which she raised 7 out of the 19. She is preceded in death by Daniel Abeyta, Raymundo Abeyta, Frank Abeyta, Manuela Abeyta, Veronica Driggers, Aurora Abeyta and Lucy Vega, Marcos Abeyta, Arturo Abeyta, and Jose Abeyta
