Juan T. Avalos

Juan T. Avalos, 83, Deming resident passed away Monday, January 16, 2023 at Three Crosses Hospital in Las Cruces.

Visitation will take place Friday, January 27, 2023 at 9 o’clock in the morning with the recitation of the Holy Rosary to be led by Suzanne Lundy at 10 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Mass of the Christian Burial will follow at 11 with Fr. Aloysius Orekie, Pastor officiating. As per his wishes, cremation will follow at Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.

Juan was born December 31, 1939 in Hot Springs, NM to Ramona Tellez and Rito Avalos. He served in the Army from 1987 to 1993. He retired with the Light Air Defense Artillery Crew. He enjoyed family gatherings and playing poker. You could always find him at the weekend yard sale! He was funny, kind and was always concerned about others. He was also an Avon bottle collector!

Survivors include his children, Juan T. Avalos Jr. (Gabriela), Roberta A. Avalos, Juanita Zamora and Michael Gallosa (Christy); grandchildren, Eric Saenz (Elisette), Vanessa Avalos (Erick Gamboa), Mikal Gallosa (Erika), Mikayla Gallosa (Steven Helms), Mark, Johnny III, Brianna, Sadie, Lavell, and Angel Avalos, Mia and Dominic Gallosa; great-grandchildren, Ezekiel and Caleb Saenz, Chanse Langford, Nathaniel Gamboa, Rhee Bland, Zayden B. and Mateo A. Gallosa; siblings, Jeremiah Avalos and Beatrice Carter.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Roberto, Benny and Rudy Avalos.

Serving as pallbearers will be Juan T. Avalos, Erick Gamboa, Steven Helms, Michael, Mikal and Dominick Gallosa.

Honorary pallbearers will serve as Jose Gamboa and Ramon Rangel.
