Julia V. Artiaga, 77, of Bayard passed away December 30, 2019 surrounded by her family.
Cremation is entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 10 am on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Baca’s Funeral Chapels. A Funeral Service for Julia will immediately follow at 10:30am. Officiating will be Deacon Bill Holguin.
Julia was born May 12, 1942 in Santa Clara to Julio and Jenny Vega and was a member of the Catholic Church. Her hobbies included cooking for everyone and anyone who was hungry, playing Bingo, and just going. Julia was unstoppable. She made friends wherever she was, and wherever she was she loved her music. She was known for always speaking what was on her mind. Julia raised a granddaughter as her own (Tabitha Artiaga) and a great grandson (Roman Artiaga). Julia loved each and every one of her kids, grandkids and great grandkids in her own special way. Julia will surely be missed by all family and friends who knew and loved her.
Julia is survived by her eight children, Annette Amador (David), Lorraine Artiaga, Sandra Ortiz (Louis), Stephanie Artiaga, Patricia Pena (Pat), Toni Stegent (Julio), Ray Artiaga (Loretta), and Daniel Espinoza (Linda). 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Also surviving Julia are special niece, Jenny Mata; nephews, Frankie and Ray Vega; special friends, Reina Chavez and Diane Miranda. Julia was preceded in death by her husband Antonio M. Artiaga; parents, Julio and Jenny Vega; sisters, Gloria Vega and Pricilla Parra; and her best friend, Angie Ortiz
