Kaye Evelyn Waterman died on August 27, 2025 at 8:10am after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was a true warrior woman right up until the end. She was born in Illinois, grew up in Athens, Ohio, and lived in New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and several other places before settling in Silver City, NM in 1995. She loved adventure and encouraged travel and taking advantage of new opportunities.
She had a great joy for life, loved reading, dancing, and listening to music. She had a soft spot for Bob Dylan and rap, especially Kendrick Lamar. She was a talented artist, switching flawlessly between different mediums like intricate drawings, collages, poetry, etc.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Patrica Rowe, and her father, Richard Purdum.
She is survived by her brother, Bruce Purdum, her children, Toby the Conqueror, Jeffrey Laughlin, and Allison Waterman and her grandchildren, Alexander Chase (Bea Lee), Dreux Chase (Claire Coleman), and Max Waterman (Brynn Cortez).
Kaye was dearly loved and will be sadly missed.
