Leonor Arzola

Leonor (Nora) Morales Arzola, 90, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, April 15, 2020. She was born October 16, 1929, in Santa Rita, NM, to Inez Morales and Sara Lopez. She was married to Ramon Arzola for 66 years and he cared for her until the end. 

She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a devout catholic and was deep in her faith.  Her faith is a great gift she left to her family. She was an active member in her parish prayer group.   She was famous for her homemade tortillas as well as her cooking. She also loved crocheting, especially blankets.  She was a foster grandmother with El Grito Headstart for 12 years. She touched many children’s hearts.  To this day these children would still call her grandma. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother.  She will be greatly missed by all her family and all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Ramon Arzola of Silver City; her daughters, Lulu Marquez, Margaret Arzola-Lilly and husband Robin, Anna Valenzuela and husband Jaime, Linda Vasquez and husband Rick; her sons, Ray Arzola, Arthur Arzola and wife Bertha, a daughter/granddaughter Melissa Marquez-Gonzales and husband Bobby, 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; brother, Jesus Morales; sister in-law Lupe Morales and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Ernie Arzola, parents Inez and Sara Morales; her three brothers, Pedro, Antonio, and Luis Morales; two sisters, Margarita Gallardo, and Elisa Correa. 

Due to COVID19 restrictions, only five people will be allowed to enter the chapel  at one time. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 9, 2020 from 8 to 9:30 am at Baca’s Funeral Chapels with the Holy Rosary being recited by Deacon Bill Holguin, to begin at 10 am. A private Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 am at St. Francis Newman Center with Father Bartholomew Ezenwelem officiating.  Concluding services and burial will be at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Richard Ray Vasquez, Jonathon Valenzuela, Justin Marquez, Gabriel Arzola, Angel Martinez and Dominic Marquez. Honorary Pallbearers are her remaining grandchildren and great children.
