Lillie Bivens Obituary

Lillie Bell Bivens, 98, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on July 29th 2022, surrounded by her loving family. 

Visitation will be Friday morning, August 5, 2022 at 9 o’clock at Harvest Church in Lordsburg where a celebration of her life will begin at 10 o’clock with Reverend Judah Mondello officiating.  Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. 

Lillie Bell was born on March 19, 1924, to Alice and Albert May in Nogal, NM.  She was one of ten children. She met her husband Joel Wesley Bivens, and they married on April 3, 1940. While her husband worked for the railroad, Lillie Bell stayed home to take care of their children Janie, Bobby, Margaret, Judy and Melvin. Together they started several family businesses in Lordsburg such as Bivens Supply, a drive-in café, Bivens Motel, and a gas station to name a few. Lillie Bell was an active member in the Assembly of God Church in Lordsburg, NM from 1949 – 2005. In 2005, she moved to Las Cruces, NM. Lillie Bell loved Jesus, her family, garage sales, rodeos, and sweets. She will be remembered as a kind soul, one that never complained. She leaves behind her daughters: Janie (Frank) Camilletti of Milner, CO, Judy (Wayne) Morris of Las Cruces, NM, son Melvin Bivens of Las Cruces, NM, grandchildren: Wesley (Jerry) Norvell of Las Cruces, NM, Billie Joe Vreeman of Hayden CO, Robby (Shaun) Bivens of Lordsburg, NM, Barbara Bivens (Larry Vargas) of Lordsburg, NM, Jo Lynn (Bobby) Otero of La Mesa, NM, Dennis Smith of Melrose, NM, Debbie (Danny) Rascon of Las Cruces, NM, Jimmy Morris of Las Cruces, NM, Joseph (Katrina) Madero of Tucson AZ, 30 great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her husband Joel Wesley Bivens, son and daughter in-law Bobby and Linda Bivens, daughter Margaret Smith, grandson Jay Dean Smith, great-grandson Frankie Joe Bivens, her parents and all her siblings.  Pallbearers are Robby Bivens, Joseph Madero, Bobby Otero, Nick Rascon, J.J. Castro, and Melvin Bivens.
