Linda Marie Diaz, a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, left this world on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at age 72. She was born to Ned and Lois Brown on June 13, 1949, in Denver, Colorado. After unforgettable journeys on life paths, she met and married her husband, Dan. Together, they crafted a lasting love and experienced adventurous travels here and abroad.
Linda’s greatest love besides her family was her passion for singing. When she sang, she enchanted her listeners and left a long-lasting impression. Linda communicated her love through music, from serenading Dan with Old Flames Can’t Hold a Candle to You, to leaving her granddaughters memories of her singing Blue, Como la Flor, and I Hope You Dance. She was the happiest holding a microphone and singing with her sons over classic karaoke tracks for hours or joining in on an impromptu jam session with her father, brother, and uncles. Linda graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Western New Mexico University. With this degree, she shared her skills and limitless empathy and impacted the lives of the children she taught in Silver City and Deming, New Mexico, and Statesville, North Carolina. Linda’s legacy would not be complete without mentioning her kindred relationship with horses as well as her lifelong parade of canine companions, each dog a best friend and confidante, ending with Chica and Katie. Like a sad song, Linda’s life has reached its final poignant note, but her melodies will live on in those she loved. Linda is waving her hat and grinning until we can once again feel her heartfelt hugs.
Linda is survived by her husband, Dan, sons, Keith, and his wife, Sandra, Chad, three granddaughters; Anne-Marie, Rebekkah, Kaitlin, and a great-grandson, Clinton, her father, Ned, and a brother, Steve, and his wife, Brenda. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, step-children, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Lois.
