Lisandro Salinas Jr. Obituary

LISANDRO “ALI” SALINAS JR., 59, a lifelong resident of Lordsburg passed away Tuesday February 20, 2018 in Lordsburg with his family at his side.

Visitation will be Thursday March 1, 2018 at 10 o’clock in the morning at the Lordsburg High School Gymnasium where his life will be celebrated at 11 o’clock with Pastor Doug Baker of Love Divine Fellowship officiating.  He will be laid to rest at Shakespeare Cemetery.

Lisandro, Ali, also affectionately known as “Boy”, was born December 30, 1958 in Lordsburg to Lisandro and Emma (De La Garza) Salinas.  Ali worked in several positions including a butcher, working at the nursing home, mining, and managing Lordsburg’s first Subway.  After this he decided to follow his passion and entered Law Enforcement.  Ali worked in Silver City and Lordsburg for approximately 15 years until he was injured in a standoff following the pursuit of a fugitive.  This incident unfortunately forced his retirement but as we know, Ali recovered as much as possible and continued being himself as best he could.  He served on the Lordsburg School Board for 7 years, enjoyed the outdoors while hunting, fishing and camping, and was active in the Lordsburg Community.  He was an avid Lordsburg Maverick and Dallas Cowboy fan and loved to talk politics.

He is survived by his children, Nathaniel Salinas of Lordsburg, Lissandra Harrell (Michael) of Buckeye, AZ, Amber Garcia (Timothy), and Moriah Salinas all of Phoenix, AZ; his father Lisandro T. Salinas Sr. of Tucson, AZ; siblings, Nicholas Salinas (Tracy) of Sellersburg, IN, Baltazar Salinas (Priscilla) of Lordsburg, Joseph J. Salinas (Christina) of Tucson, AZ, Abraham Salinas (Lisa) of Bagdad, AZ, Rose Mary Salinas of Las Cruces, Mona Lisa Saenz (David) of Lordsburg, Sarah Sue Gastelum of Tucson, AZ; and his four grandchildren, Jocelyn, Michael Jr., Levi and Aulani.  He was preceded in death by his mom, Emma Salinas and nephew, Abraham Salinas Jr.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Plowman, Bill Cavaliere, Clark Smith, Mark Thomas, Richard Chaires and Alfredo Morelos.  Honorary bearers are all his family and friends.
