Lugarda "Luga" A. Martinez

Lugarda A. Martinez, "Luga", 95, of Santa Clara passed away September 6, 2022 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 5 to 6 pm at Baca's Funeral Chapels. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at 6 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 am on Wednesday, September 14,2022 at Santa Clara Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father Casmir Anozie. Concluding services and interment will follow at the Fierro Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers will be Daniel Martinez, Michael Ortega, Patrick Ortega Jr, Patrick Ortega Sr, Michael Marquez, and Eddie Tovar.  Honorary bearers will be Leonard, Jesus, Dicky, Rick Frankie, and Isabella. 

"Luga" as she was fondly known, was born October 23, 1926 in Fierro, NM to Miguel and Ester Andazola. A lifelong area resident, she was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and had worked for many years at Fort Bayard Medical Center as a Nurse's Aide. At home, Luga loved spending her time crocheting and watching her game shows on television. Above all though, she loved cooking meals for her family, whom all, she loved and were very special to her. Before everyone left her home, she would make sure to bless them.

Luga is survived by her daughter, Natalia Martinez; Grandchildren, Steve Martinez, Stephanie Martinez, April Martinez, Missy Ortega (Patrick), and Raul Martinez Jr. Great grandchildren, Kiana, Daniel, Mykala, Azeryah, Gavyn, Brianna, Savanna, Patrick, and Michael. Great-great grandchildren, Kellen, Lenox, and Mila. Also surviving Luga is her sister, Dolores Griego. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo Martinez, son Raul Martinez, and her daughter Margie Martinez.
