Luis Alberto “Weasel” Rodriguez      June 07, 1979- March 10, 2026

Luis Alberto Rodriguez, lovingly known as “Weasel” passed away on March 10, 2026, at his home in Columbus, New Mexico, at the age of 46.

Luis “Weasel” was born on June 07, 1979, in Salinas, California to Tino Jose Rodriguez and Margarita Ojeda Rodriguez. Though he left high school early, Luis was incredibly skilled and hardworking. He excelled as an electrician apprentice while working in the mines and as a forklift driver while employed with Border Foods.

Luis “Weasel” had a true gift for art. He enjoyed drawing in his free time, he learned other crafts like etching glass and wood burning, leaving behind pieces that reflected his creativity and attention to detail. He was known for his beautiful handwriting, something that stood out to everyone who knew him.

Above all, Luis “Weasel” loved his family deeply. His children meant everything to him, he carried that love in everything he did. He was funny, full of life and had a way of making people laugh. Music was another passion of his, he especially loved Mexican corridos and early rap.

Luis “Weasel” is survived by his loving mother Margarita Ojeda Rodriguez, his sisters Irene Rodriguez and Margie Rodriguez; His children Leonel Fimbres, Estela A. Rodriguez, and Luis T. Rodriguez; as well as many nieces, great-nieces, Aunts, uncles and loving cousins who will continue to carry his memory forward.

He is preceded in death by his Father Tino Jose Rodriguez; his brother Jose Ricardo Rodriguez, his godfather Enrique “Henry” Gonzales, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A public viewing will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Deming, New Mexico beginning at 10:00 am, with funeral services at 11:00 am and a celebration of life luncheon will take place immediately afterward at 1000 W. Florida St. in Deming, New Mexico. Per Luis’ “Weasel’s” last wishes, he will be cremated. Cremains will be buried at Mountain View cemetery at a later date.

In honor of Luis “Weasel,” the family kindly asks to attendees wear red -his favorite color- or something representing the San Francisco 49ers, his favorite team.

Luis “Weasel” will be remembered for his creativity, his humor, and most of all, the deep love he had for his family. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
