Lupe Diaz, 92 was born May 31st, 1933 in Hurley, New Mexico to Balbina and Pedro Vargas. Lupe entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 20th, 2025 at her home. Lupe was born, grew up, and married in Hurley, New Mexico. Lupe lived a long life, she married Raul (Ruco) Diaz and together raised six children. In 1962 she and her family moved to Los Angeles, California and raised her family. Lupe, her husband and family moved back to Silver City in 1977. Lupe’s first husband passed away in 1990. She then met and married Juan Becerra who cared for her until her death.
Lupe was a very hardworking woman who always helped support her family. Many people knew her from the Kountry Kitchen Restaurant at the Maxwell House where she worked alongside her daughter and son-in-law. Lupe had many friends whom she grew up with and many others she met through her life. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Lupe is survived by her loving husband Juan, her children Christine Gerardo (Gollo), Joe Parra (Cessi), Velia Maldonado, Yvonne Morales (Ben) and Raul Diaz (Michelle) along with 17 grandchildren, 27 great - grandchildren, and 6 great - great grandchildren.
Lupe was preceded in death by her parents, her son Ruben Diaz, a baby daughter Patricia, grandsons Joe Willie Lopez, Michael Perez, and granddaughter Eileen Diaz, her brothers Manuel Vargas, Luis Vargas, Ramon Vargas, Pete Vargas and Frank Vargas, her sisters Eloisa Quintana and Ramona Lerma.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 27th at 10:00 am at Baca's Funeral Chapel in Silver City. Concluding Services and Interment will follow immediately after at Memory Lane Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers will be her grandsons Ivan Aguilar, Matthew Diaz, Johnny Horton, Enrique Maldonado, Michael Morales, and Mark Perez.
