Luz Alvarez Marquez

LUZ ALVAREZ MARQUEZ, 68, resident of Lordsburg passed away Friday April 29, 2022 at University Medical Center in El Paso.

Visitation will be Tuesday May 10, 2022 beginning at 9 o’clock in the morning at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where the rosary will begin at 10 o’clock.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 with Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor officiating.  Concluding services and interment will be at Shakespeare Cemetery.

Luz was born September 21, 1953 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Alfonso and Guadalupe Sifuentes Alvarez.  She has lived in Lordsburg most all her life and was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  Luz enjoyed sewing and knitting and especially making special things for her family and grandchildren.  Being the person she was, Luz was always willing to help anyone in need.

She is survived by her children, Joseph Marquez of Lordsburg, Yasmine Estrada (Gabriel) of Las Cruces, Sabrina Booth (Alan) of Shelby Township, MI, Suehaye Fraley (Bill) of Lordsburg; brothers and sisters, Tere (Armando), Manuel (Ivonne), Lupe, Martha (John), Alfonso (Lupe), Burt (Vickie), Margie (David), Rocio (Robert), Peter (Vickie), Sally (David), Tico (Melody), 5 grandchildren, Kaylee, Ethan, Kayden, Kayson, and Jacob and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 grandson, Estevan Estrada, and brother Louis.

Pallbearers will be Alfonso Alvarez, Michael Montano, John Ellingsworth, Kayden Booth, Ethan Estrada and John Sierra.  Honorary bearers are Kayson Booth, Jacob Marquez, Cash Alvarez, Cynthia Alvarez and Javier Mendoza.
