Maggie R. Simpson, 94, of Silver City passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Fort Bayard Medical Center. Per her wishes, cremation will take place. Service arrangements are pending.
Maggie was born October 10, 1931 in Puckett, Mississippi to Bertram and Madge (Burnham) Polk. Maggie will be remembered as a loving mother and excellent seamstress who loved her family and her church family deeply. She was creative and artistic. Crafting was her favorite pastime, especially beading and ceramics.
Maggie is survived by her son, Roger Haden (Jacqueline); daughter, Ruth Haden; son-in-law, Ron Stickland; grandchildren, Tammy Cross (Ryan), Dawn Egge, Lacey Tomassoni (James); great-grandchildren, Steven Cross (Olivia), Mariel Egge, Jovi Egge, and Mira Tomassoni; great-great-grandchild, Sena Cross; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertram and Madge Polk; daughter, Virginia “Ginger” Stickland; her husband, Jasper Simpson; sister, Bobby Hubbard; and brothers, Doxie, Tommy, and Jerry Polk.
