Obituary
Maria Luisa Villalpando, 95, Lordsburg resident passed away Tuesday May 23, 2023 at The Village of Northrise-Desert Willow in Las Cruces.
Visitation will begin Tuesday May 30, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30 in the morning at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary to be recited at 10:30 led by Maria Valenzuela. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 with the rite of committal and interment to follow at Shakespeare Cemetery. Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor will officiate.
Maria was born November 28, 1927 in Villa Ahumada, Chihuahua to Patrocinia Vazquez and Francisco Villalpando. She loved gardening and took very special care of all her plants in which she grew, you can say she had a Greenthumb for it. Maria liked reading but something that she enjoyed the most was cooking, she loved to cook. Family gatherings were very special to her. Her family loved when she would cook her famous tamales, homemade tortillas and so many more dishes for her family to enjoy.
Maria is survived by her 2 children, Hector (Cristina) Bocanegra and Maria L. (Ruben) Mendoza; 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Sage Santoyo, and her siblings.
Serving as pallbearers will be Zorbabel Leon, Roman Macias, Diego, Jordan, Hugo, and Ruben Mendoza.
