Martin Arambula Obituary

MARTIN R. ARAMBULA, 85, a lifelong resident of Lordsburg passed away Monday September 16, 2019 at his home.

Visitation will be Thursday morning, September 26, 2019 at 8:45 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where a rosary will begin at 9 o’clock with his sister Alice Ramirez leading the rosary.  Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:30 with Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor officiating.  Concluding services and interment will follow Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 2:30 in the afternoon.

Martin was born November 11, 1933 in Lordsburg to Benjamin and Flora Reyes Arambula.  He entered the U.S. Army in 1951 and afterward served in the New Mexico National Guard until 1990 when he retired.  He also worked with the City of Lordsburg as a meter reader for 32 years and worked at the Coronado Theater in the projection room for some time.  Martin was a member of the Elks Lodge, the V.F.W., and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers.  He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and had also been very active with the Lordsburg Honor Guard which honored many local veterans throughout the years.

He is survived by his wife Manuela “Nellie” Arambula of Lordsburg; brothers, Amado Arambula of Bell, CA, Ben Arambula (Ofelia) and Rudy Armbula (Berna) of Lordsburg, Raul Arambula Sr. (Odelia) of Woodland, CA; sisters, Celestina De La Riva of Alamogordo, Alice Ramirez (Angel); and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Flora, sister Isabel Galvan and brother Nick Arambula.  His sister Mica Esquivel passed away September 22, 2019.

Pallbearers will be David Esquivel, Angel Ramirez Jr., Raul Arambula Jr., Jose A. Barrio, Tommy Esquivel and Victor Arambula.  Honorary bearers are Amado, Ben, Rudy and Raul Arambula.
