Marvin was born July 26, 1946 in Deming, NM to Pete and Johnnie Clary. Marvin grew up farming on the family farm until he left for college at NMSU where he graduated with a degree in Agronomy. He took a break from college and served in the US Army. After serving in Vietnam, he finished his degree and worked on his Masters. Marvin met his wife, Judy Coker Clary at the Baptist Student Union and they married August 11, 1973. Marvin was well known for his expertise in chile production and worked closely with the chile farmers in many different areas in the state, Arizona, and Mexico. He served on the New Mexico Chile Task Force at NMSU. He was also bestowed the great honor of being inducted into the Sam Steel Society at NMSU. After many years of working at Border Foods (now Mizkon) he retired and enjoyed his lapidary rock shop where he cut and tumbled many beautiful agate stones. He was an active member of the Deming Gem & Mineral Society where he volunteered at the annual Rockhound Roundup Gem and Mineral Show. He had a great passion for growing and nurturing the heirloom roses and irises planted by his mother, that will be continued on by his children. Marvin enjoyed serving at the First Baptist Church as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher.
