Mary Helen Rodriguez, 63, a life-long resident of San Lorenzo passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces.
The Prayer Vigil and Rosary will take place on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at six o’clock in the evening at Cross Point Church in Silver City. The Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at ten o’clock in the morning at San Lorenzo Catholic Church in San Lorenzo. Burial will follow at the San Lorenzo Cemetery. Officiating will be Father Martin Okonkwo. Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Gonzales, Juan Zapata, Richard Rodriguez, Mariah Rodriguez, Hector Grijalva and Gilbert Grijalva. Honorary pallbearers will be Sylvia Zapata, Velia Madrid and David Grijalva. Per COVID-19 restrictions, only 25% of the capacity of the church will be allowed, wearing a mask will be mandated and social distancing will be enforced.
Mary Helen was born on March 22, 1957 to Federico and Ermina Montoya Rodriguez in Silver City. She loved having fun and hanging out with family and friends. You could always count on Mary Helen, she always there to lend a helping hand. Mary Helen enjoyed dancing, rodeos, camping and being outdoors. She rarely missed the Luna and Tucson rodeos. Mary Helen worked in construction most of her life. Last job she had was working with Grijalva Construction.
Mary Helen is survived by her son, Johnny Rodriguez Zapata (Jocelyn) of Silver City; grandson, Juan Zapata of San Juan and granddaughters, Mariah and Marisela Rodriguez of Silver City; her mother, Erminia Rodriguez of San Lorenzo; brothers, Ruben Montoya (Althea) of Albuquerque, Ricardo Rodriguez (Patty) of San Lorenzo and Francisco Rodriguez (Phyllis) of Lathrop, CA; three sisters, Betty Gonzales (Gilbert), Lorraine Ponce (Gary) all of Silver City, Agatha Rodriguez of Tucson, AZ; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Federico Rodriguez in 2017.
