Mary Lou Garcia, 84, longtime Deming resident passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. She born on September 19, 1940 in Santa Rita, New Mexico to Daniel and Adelina Peña.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 2 to 3 o’clock in the afternoon at Baca’s Funeral Chapel. Cremation will follow and has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.
Mary Lou was a very patient and loving mother. She was always there for her children and grandchildren with a listening ear. She made everyone laugh with a joke and witty comment. Mary Lou always made sure all who came to her home had a warm meal and felt welcomed.
She is survived by her children, Virginia Pineda and husband Victor Pineda, Rose Ann Gonzales and husband Jose Luis Gonzales, Isabel “Booty,” Guadalupe, Juan, Marcelina, Eddie, and Dolores Garcia; a brother, Fidencio Peña; she is also survived by 27 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Garcia; a daughter, Mary Ellen Garcia and her brothers, Deacon Daniel Peña, Chris Peña, and Richard Peña.
