Mary Rosetta “Rose” Meistrell
Mary Rosetta “Rose” Meistrell completed her journey on this earth on June 15, 2020. Born to Thomas E Chadwell and Mary M Slusher on May 2, 1928 in Yuma, Arizona, Rose grew up, 5th from the youngest of 15, with her parents and 14 siblings in Gadsden, Arizona and Las Cruces, New Mexico. She always considered Yuma to be her home, though later in life she lived in Mesa, Arizona, LaPine, Oregon, Rison, Arkansas and Deming, New Mexico for several years each.
The last few years Rose enjoyed traveling and meeting new people with her Daughter and Son-In-Law, Jim and Myra Bowling. Playing with children, especially babies, was a joy for her that lasted her entire life.
Rose is survived by 1 sister, Esther L. Whitney, of Lebanon, Oregon; 1 Sister-In-Law, Geraldine Cooksey of Mississippi; Daughter Myra and husband James Bowling, of Deming, NM; Daughter, Darwina Sumpter of Payson, Az; Son, Michael O’Halloran and wife Candace of Zanesville, Ohio; 12 of 15 Grandchildren; more than 15 great-grandchildren; Nieces, Nephews, Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews too many to count; and a host of Friends, many of whom called her ‘Mom’ or ‘Grandma’.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be planned for Rose in Yuma, Az on her birthday, May 2, 2021. Rose’s wishes for Cremation are carried out by Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Deming, New Mexico on June 16, 2020. In Lieu of flowers or other considerations, a donation to Alzheimer’s/Dementia Research is requested.
