We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Baca's Funeral Chapels - Silver City
Michael Charles Stewart , 75, of Faywood, New Mexico, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. Michael has now joined his wife, Donna, in the forever that they promised each other. Michael is survived by two daughters, and four grandchildren: Carolynn “Lynn” Stewart mother of Rebekah and Caden Balser of Youngstown, OH; and Michelle “Micki” Stewart mother of Miranda Lace of Cambridge, Massachusetts and Shelby McKinney of Las Cruces, New Mexico. He is also survived by close family friend, Ashlee Trujillo.
Mike spent much of his life in service to others. Early in life, Mike served his country in Vietnam as a member of the Seabees. Later in life, Mike served his community as the Chief of the Lower Mimbres Volunteer Fire Department. He loved driving that fire truck! The final years of his life were spent in service to his love, Donna. As Alzheimer’s took her farther away, he stood by her side until she took her final breath. After her passing, his fight with cancer took over until the bitter end. Even at the end, Mike was making sure everyone else was taken care of.
There will be a memorial service with full military honors at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends purchasing a Memorial Tree in Mike’s honor through Baca Funeral Chapel Memorials.
