Mike O Fernandez

Mike O. Fernandez, 88, longtime Deming resident entered eternal rest Thursday September 24, 2020 at his home.

Visitation with Covid 19 restrictions in place will begin at 4 o’clock Monday September 28, 2020 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel with the rosary service to follow at 6 o’clock.  Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday September 29, 2020 at 12 o’clock in the afternoon at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church.  The rite of committal and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery with military honors accorded.  Fr. Manuel F. Ibarra will officiate.

Mike was born to Margarita Ochoa and Gaspar Fernandez in Deming.  He served his country honorably in the US Air Force and was a communicant of the Catholic Church.  Mike married Beatriz Porras on November 12, 1981 in Lordsburg.  He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting.  Mike loved his family; he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Beatriz Fernandez of the home; 5 sons, Rudy Fernandez and his wife Elma of CO, Freddie Macias and his wife Cindy of CA, Jorge Porras and his wife Maria Luisa of CA, Juan Lopez and his wife Guillermina of Deming, Henry Torres and his wife Cecilia; 6 daughters, Alma Natale and husband EJ of OK, Yvonne Castillo and her companion Sam Bencomo of Hurley, Veronica and Adriana Fernandez of Deming, Margarita Parra and her husband Martin of Buckeye, AZ, and Amanda Fernandez of Deming; 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gaspar Fernandez and sister, Mary Chavez.
