Mike A. Quarrell was born on May 22, 1954, in Deming, New Mexico to Luisa M. and Mike L. Quarrell. He passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020, in his home in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Mike attended Deming Public Schools and graduated from Deming High School in 1973. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his family and friends and was quite the adventurer. He once hitchhiked from Deming all the way to New York City. Later in life he made his livelihood as a welder and sheet metal fabricator. For the past 22 years, Mike was employed with Superior Heating, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration, Inc., in Las Cruces. Edward and Liz Lopez, the owners of the company, had nothing but praise for his work and work ethic. Mike thought of them as surrogate parents and affectionately referred to Liz as “Mama Simba”. Mike also taught sheet metal fabrication at Doña Ana Community College. He was proud to be an instructor and loved working with his students and preparing them for the workforce.
Mike A. Quarrell is survived by his children, Aaron and Jennifer Quarrell, his parents, and his brothers Eddie, Danny and wife Bernadette, Frankie and wife Betty and numerous nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins. A remembrance memorial and rosary service will be held in his honor on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church. COVID-19 restrictions (the wearing of masks) will apply. Honorary pall bearers will be his brothers, his best friend Juan Gomez from Las Cruces and all his loving family members and friends.
