Naomi B. De La Garza (Noni)
Noni De La Garza was born on January 30, 1957, in Lordsburg, NM to Robert Munoz Barrera and Agnes Barrera.
Noni met the Love of her Life Alex De La Garza at the age of 15 and together they created a beautiful loving family with seven children.
Noni was a kind, caring, loving Christian lady whom welcomed everyone to her home. Noni treated everyone that visited to a meal of what she was cooking. She was well known for all her cooking, especially her red chile with meat burritos, homemade tortillas and her tamales. She loved to sing, plant, go antiquing, loved to sew, and listen to church messages. She loved her church and church family. She was adored and loved by all who met her.
Noni was diagnosed in 2021 with Serous Carcinoma Cancer. She was in remission for about a year and in 2022 was diagnosed with brain cancer and underwent surgery that led to left side Paralysis on her left side. Because of this she needed 24 hour care. She was taken care of by her Husband, their five children, son in law, three grand-daughters, niece Elisabeth and caregiver Armi. Noni was a Christian Warrior, she put God first in her life and not once ever lost her Faith. She was a fighter, showed courage, and inspired all who heard her story and saw her motivation. She never complained and always took every trial as a blessing from the Lord, and conquered it. She gave the Lord all her battles and we won.
Noni is proceeded in death by her parents Robert and Agnes Barrera, sister Melody Murillo, her two sons, Isaac and Alex De La Garza, one grand-daughter, Allyziah Jackson; and all her pets.
Noni is survived by her beloved husband, Alex of 55 years, children, Melissa, Rahab, Seth, Aaron, Shalom, (Joseph Jackson), three grand-daughters, Lily De La Garza, Azaylah and Zanaiyah Jackson. Noni’s siblings; brothers, Robert Barrera (Lordsburg), Isreal Barrera (Priscilla) of Montana and sister, Raquel Montiel (Lordsburg.) She has many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and family members that she loved and cherished. Noni will be deeply missed, but her loving kind spirit will live in our memories.
A celebration of her life will be Thursday October 9, 2025 at 11 o’clock in the morning at Pyramid Tabernacle with Pastor Manuel Salazar officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Boaz Salinas, Aaron Barrera, Jonathan Murillo, Joseph Jackson, Ruben Murillo Jr., John Collins, Micah Montiel and William Perez. Honorary bearers are her church family, family, and friends.
