Natalia L. Ybarra, 88, a cherished native of Silver City, New Mexico, earned her angel wings on December 7, 2025, at her daughter’s home. Born on November 6, 1937, in Silver City, she was a beloved daughter of Guadalupe and Maria Lopez.
Natalia was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Richard P. Ybarra; her parents, Guadalupe and Maria Lopez; three brothers, Alvino, Danny, and Adolfo Lopez; and three sisters, Anna Vargas, Bessie Maestas, and Helen Villalobos.
She is survived by her three children, her son Richard L. Ybarra and his wife Teresa E. Ybarra, her daughters, Teresa L. Ybarra and her husband Grover Ferrell, and Mary Flores and her husband Pat Flores. Natalia’s legacy continues through her six grandchildren: Michael A. Ybarra, Benny Y. Munoz, Victoria Ybarra, Dennis Munoz, Josh Ybarra, and Candice Garcia. She was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren: Luis C. Jurado, Michael Ybarra Jr., Nicholas Munoz, Brenden Ybarra, Alonzo Ybarra, Breanna Ybarra, Letricia Ybarra, Erika Ybarra, Alice J. Ybarra, Corbin Ybarra, and Lorenzo Garcia. Her family tree further extends to three great-great-grandchildren: Eternity Ybarra, Elianna Ybarra, and Cameron Keyes. Natalia is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Ann Swearengine and her husband John, and Atonia Lopez.
Natalia spent the majority of her life in Silver City. After her beloved marriage to Richard, they briefly lived in Picher, Oklahoma, before returning to New Mexico, residing for a short period in Lordsburg and then settling back in Silver City. Natalia devoted her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren, consistently supporting them by attending their sporting events, recitals, graduations, and birthdays.
She found great joy in watching football and baseball, and was always ready for a movie night, a card game, or a shopping trip. The holidays, especially Christmas, held a special place in her heart; she loved decorating and engaging in craftwork. As a master crocheter, Natalia created dolls, decorations, blankets, and more, generously gifting these handmade treasures to loved ones and fulfilling requests from friends for their children or fundraising events.
A devout Catholic, Natalia faithfully attended church on Sundays and prayed her rosary every day. When she became unable to physically attend services, she watched mass on television, maintaining her strong belief in the power of prayer. She left her family with a lasting spiritual legacy and prayer banks in a surplus.
Following her husband’s passing, Natalia lived with her daughter Mary, surrounded by the affection and companionship of family members and the exceptional care of Lorena Murillo and Michelle Morales.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael A. Ybarra, Victoria Ybarra, Benny Munoz, Dennis Munoz, Josh Ybarra, Brenden Ybarra, Alonzo Ybarra, Candice Garcia, Adam Garcia and Freddie Diaz. Serving as honorary pallbearers are her Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren.
