Patrick Rael Obituary

Patrick Paul Rael passed away on September 2, 2021 at his home in Silver City, NM.

A graveside service for Patrick and his late wife Nicole will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2021 at Ft. Bayard Cemetery.

Patrick was born on April 10, 1976 in Silver City, New Mexico to Robert and Rosalie Rael. He was a loving father, son, and brother. Although time keeps marching at its ever-steady pace, this Marine took his last steps through the passage of time on that calm evening. There are few dedicated warriors that would enjoy this call to arms, yet in death duty bound, the heavenly gates grow safer as they add another guardian to their ranks. A man of his own code, there was no worse enemy and no better friend than what you could find in this man. The sun will rise and fall and yet something will feel as though it is missing; his amber eyes will never look upon the land that he called home again. Almost as if the sky responded in the week of his passing, it rained as if it were mourning, washing away pain and sins of the past. And in his wake, he left the world a better place, not only in his actions, but in duty to raising his two children in the best way he could. In remembrance he would not want those he knew to be sad, but to cherish the good times that they shared.

In his younger years, Patrick enjoyed playing sports, including baseball, football, and wrestling. He lived most of his life in Silver City and earned a degree in psychology from Western New Mexico University. He was extremely proud of having served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Patrick was an avid hunter who bagged some admirable bucks in his day. He enjoyed his Subaru STI, was a lifelong Raiders fan, and could master any video game he played. He loved his family, and the people he was most proud of in the world were his son and daughter. Sadly, he had recently lost his wife, whom he considered his best friend.

Patrick is survived by his daughter, Alexandria Rael, son, Patrick Rael II, mother and father, Rosalie and Robert Rael, sister Rosalyn Rael (Alex Janevski), brother Robert Rael Jr. (Antoinette), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Nicole Cotta Rael, and sister Lorissa Rael Zucker.

Semper Fi, Patrick.
