Philip was born January 9, 1964 in Lordsburg, NM to Roberto and Bernadita Mares. He lived in in Ventura, California until he returned to Silver City to be close to his family. He had worked at Food Basket as an assistant manager before he became ill. Philip loved to be outdoors, hiking, fishing and enjoying nature. He spent many summer days at Cherry Creek, he could sit there for hours taking in the beauty. Philip loved music; you could always tell what kind of a mood he was in by the what type of music he was listening to. Philip was a people person and had many friends. He always made us laugh up to his last night with us. Philip will be greatly missed.
Philip is survived by his father, Roberto Mares; a brother, Robert Mares; two sisters, Rosemary Mares and Julie Mares. Also surviving Philip are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernardita Mares, and a brother, Johnny Mares.
