Ramona Molina Silva

Ramona Molina Silva, 89, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family on November 1, 2024. 

She had just celebrated her 89th birthday. Ramona was born on October 23, 1935 in the town of Mogollon, New Mexico to Canuto García Molina and Refugia Muñoz Molina. In 1946, her family moved to Silver City, New Mexico where she went to school and worked in the office at American Laundry. In 1963 she met the love of her life, Miguel Ramirez Silva, they married on May 1, 1965 and moved to the town of Deming, New Mexico where they built a life and raised their two children. Ramona worked for Pollard Insurance and the New Mexico Department of Labor before retiring in 1999. Ramona was a huge fan of Major League Baseball and her team was the Arizona Diamondbacks. She loved going to Phoenix and attending the ballgames with her family. Ramona also loved music and dancing. She enjoyed going to her Sonny-boy’s dances, and she and her husband led several wedding marches for family and friends. Her hobbies included: playing bingo, bowling, and hosting family gatherings. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the matriarch of our family, the glue that held everything together, and we will miss her dearly.

Ramona will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Miguel Ramirez Silva. Her two children, Michael Silva (Denise) and Sylvia Holguin (Joseph). Her four grandchildren, Jesika JeyAn Martinez (David), Audrianna Barreras (JC), Joseph “Pops” Holguin Jr. (Landis), Joshua Holguin (Estelle). Her three great grandchildren, David Brennin Martinez, Emie Barreras, and Saria Barreras. Her siblings, Roberto Molina (Connie), Olivia Salas (Damas), and Samuel Molina (Katie). And cherished nieces Rita "Buggy" Molina and Sonia Munoz who were especially dear to her.

Ramona was proceeded in death by her father Canuto García Molina and her mother Refugia Munoz Molina. Her three sisters, Refugia, Dolores, and partner in crime Elodia “Dodo” Molina.

Serving as casket bearers will be Joseph Holguin, Joseph "Pops" Holguin Jr., Joshua Holguin, David Martinez, JC Barreras, and Robbie Molina.

Funeral services for Ramona will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church (400 S. Ruby St. Deming, NM 88030). A rosary will be held at 10 o’clock in the morning with a funeral mass to follow at 11. The final interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery.
