Raul Anthony Peña, 63, of Silver City passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
A graveside service will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be accorded. Officiating is Pastor Daniel Moser.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Damacio Peña, Teodoro Chacon, Phillip Barragan, Austin Kirwin, Kory Chandler, and Manuel Chacon.
Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Barragan, Roberto Chacon, and Charlie Muñoz.
Raul was born November 24, 1960 in Silver City, New Mexico to Raul Peña Sr. and Olivia Ortiz.
A 1978 graduate of Silver High School, Raul would go on to join the United States Army. He served three years. Raul will be remembered as a family man who made friends wherever he went. He loved meeting new people and would spark up conversations whenever he had a chance.
Hunting, fishing, camping, grilling, and spending time outdoors with loved ones were some of his favorite hobbies. As a certified diesel diagnostic mechanic, Raul always had a project car and owned many Camaros and other classic cars during his lifetime.
Raul is preceded in death by his mother, Olivia Ortiz Pena, grandfather, Damacio Peña and grandmother, Rosa Peña.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lydia Peña; daughters, Erin Barragan (Phillip), Elaine Chandler (Kory), Aubrie Kirwin (Austin); and son, Damacio Peña (Felicia); stepchildren, Jacob Chacon and Renee Baker; and eleven grandchildren.
