Raymond Joseph Sierra, 29, a lifelong resident of Silver City passed away at his home on Friday, August 12, 2022. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Baca’s Funeral Chapels.
A Recitation of the Holy Rosary led by Deacon Bill Holguin will take place at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Silver City, NM. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, August 22, 2022 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Silver City. The Rite of Committal and Inurnment will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Silver City. Officiating is Deacon Bill Holguin.
Honorary Pallbearers are Avery Valencia, Abran Madrid, Tyanna Sierra, Brenton Gore, Erica Sierra, and Carlos Lucero.
Raymond was born on March 17, 1993 in Silver City, NM to Nathan N. Sierra and Cecilia M. Mendoza.
Raymond was a caring person with a big heart and beautiful smile who loved to make you laugh. He was also a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Raymond enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his sons whom he loved unconditionally. Raymond had two special aunties, ‘Nerm’ Sierra and Wanda Mendoza with whom he spent a lot of time. He was his Auntie ‘Kayda’s’ ‘little guy’. Raymond will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Nathan N. Sierra; his paternal grandfather, Apolonio Sierra Jr.; his maternal great-grandmother, Cecilia Vasquez; and his cousin, Bryan Sierra Jr.
Raymond is survived by two sons, Raymond Joseph Jr. and Xzaydrian Estevan Sierra of Silver City; his mother and stepfather, Cecilia and Henry Alcorta of Silver City; sister, Monica Lucero (Carlos) and their son, Gavino of Hurley; maternal grandparents, Jose and Yolanda Mendoza of Silver City; paternal grandmother, Betty Sierra of Silver City; maternal aunts, Enriqueta Mendoza (Abran Madrid) and Wanda Mendoza (Avery Valencia) of Silver City; paternal aunts, “Nerm” Sierra, Anna Hernandez, Bernadette Sierra; paternal uncles, Norman, Bryan, and Alex Sierra; numerous cousins and extended family members.
